From Technology to Application, a practical introduction to beam steering technology and directed sound   @ SoundLab
Jun 18 um 11:30 – 12:15

Based on Kling & Freitag’s project of providing the ideal acoustic equipment for the Elbphilharmonie, we’ll present the technical use of beam steering and the advantages of targeted sound emission, from the idea to concept and realization. Thereby, a focus will be on the acoustic analyses and the application of the VIDA L/C system in the Elbphilharmonie, which will uncover how beam steering technology is advantageous over conventional loudspeaker technologies e.g. line arrays and point sources.

Speaker: Andreas Bauer (Sales and application support , Kling & Freitag,), Christoph Wöhler (Senior Consultant, Kling & Freitag.)

Variable acoustics at the example of the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg @ SoundLab
Jun 18 um 12:00 – 12:45

Variable acoustic measures in the form of curtains have been used for decades. In the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg, innovative roll banner systems were used to make the large hall acoustically variable. But why do variable acoustic elements have to be installed in a new concert hall that has also gone down in history as one of the most expensive in the world? Shouldn’t a concert hall be acoustically optimally designed on its own? These and other exciting questions on the subject of variable room acoustics will be answered in this lecture.

Speaker: Jonas Schira (Gerriets GmbH),

VALtec – Variable Acoustic Lens – Perfect beam steering also in the high frequency range @ SoundLab
Jun 18 um 13:30 – 14:15

Theatre stages and auditoriums are used variably almost everywhere. For sound technology, this means complex conversions or lower transmission quality. In the last few years, sound lines have gained acceptance in sound reinforcement technology whose vertical dispersion behaviour can be changed with the aid of integrated electronics. Beam steering offers optical, acoustic and handling advantages. For speech reproduction, an arrangement of high-quality broadband chassis with appropriate equalization is sufficient. When reproducing high frequencies, however, the dimensions of the transducers used are in the order of magnitude of the wavelengths to be radiated, which leads to various problems.

Speaker: Dieter Klein (KS Audio),

Designed to Deliver – SHURE TwinPlex & Axient Digital @ SoundLab
